Joel Osteen - Refresh Others Today Bible

Joel Osteen's Hope For Today Bible contains a great article titled Refresh Others in Proverbs 11. I enjoyed it so much I had to share it.

Refresh Others

The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed (Proverbs 11:25)

God’s system works on the principle of sowing and reaping. In the book of Genesis, God set up a system of seedtime and harvest. The Bible tells us that He gives seed to the sower. In other words, if you are a person who has a desire to bless others and sow seed, God will make sure you have something to give. Notice what happens when you generously sow seed – you increase more! Just like planting a seed in the natural brings an abundant harvest, planting a spiritual seed brings an abundant harvest as well. You can’t out-give God! He will pour out blessings on you that you cannot contain! God’s blessings go way beyond just the financial realm. He wants you to have blessed relationships, good health, and a fulfilling career. Take a step of faith today and look for ways to start sowing into the lives of others. What do you have in hand? Can you start by giving a smile or an encouraging word? Do you have five dollars to help someone else at the gas pump? Choose to be a blessing today, and God promises to bless and increase you in every area of your life.

You will discover that when you refresh others, you yourself will be refreshed. That word “refresh” means to restore or revive. When you reach out to others to restore them or offer strength to them, you are planting seeds for your own future. And there are many ways to refresh others – a smile, a kind word, a helping hand. Get in the habit of looking for ways to be a blessing to other people. Have a generous attitude, step out, and refresh others. As you do, you will have the satisfaction of living an effective life.
