Journey To Success Radio interview with The Re-Entry Coalition
For my Journey To Success Radio show, I had an amazing time interviewing Bob Jackson and others from The Re-Entry Coalition in Georgia.
The Re-Entry Coalition works with ex-offenders to help them reestablish themselves in society upon their release.
In 2004 Bob Jackson decided to do something about the rate of recidivism for ex-offenders in Georgia. Working with government officials on several levels, and with help from their corporate sponsor Southwire Inc, The Re-Entry Coalition officially opened their doors in 2008. Since then, they were chosen as a recipient of the Partner Agency of the Year Award in 2009 by the Department of Corrections. Bob himself has received an award from the United States Attorney General’s office for Outstanding Community service and Partnership. In 2011 they launched a partnership with Tip Top Poultry to hire ex-felons and today there are over 70 people employed through this program.
Some of the people who helped Bob Jackson get The Re-Entry Coalition to where they are today are:
Mayor Wayne Garner
City Manager Casey Cole
and there have been many others who have poured their time and energies into this tremendous initiative.
One of the major challenges facing ex-offenders is the collateral consequences they face when they leave prison. These include treatment by family, employers and government agencies.
You will hear on the interview how they need a van to help them transport workers to work with their Partner Tip Top Poultry. If you can help them with this need, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you can help them with the cost and expertise of putting together w website, that would also be very appreciated.
