Listen to my dad and I discuss a career in sales.

Jim Cunningham

My father spent his whole career, 40+ years, in the explosives industry. He worked for 20 years for DuPont Canada to start his career. DuPont, for many years, dominated the explosives market. The other major competitor at the time was CIL.

My father worked out of Quebec and looked after a very large territory. After leaving DuPont, he worked for an explosives distributor that he helped set up in the business in Ottawa, Ontario, the capital city of Canada. After several years doing that, he bought the explosives business from the distributor who sold it to focus on another construction company he ran. He operated The Powder Company for 14 years and had tremendous success.

His company was purchased by his major competitor, Boyes Explosives, a fairly large company that operated throughout Ontario.

He also served a term as President of the Canadian Explosives Distributors of Canada (CEDEC). He will very well known throughout Canada in the explosives industry.
