Sponsor Energy is a retailer of electricity operating in Alberta, Canada with a very unique business model. They have partnered with local charities and donate 50% of their corporate profits on each customer’s electricity usage to the charity that the customer has chosen to “sponsor”. Some of these Albertan charities include: Inn From the Cold, Neighbour link, The Calgary Drop-In Centre, The Calgary, Edmonton and Lethbridge food banks, Meals on Wheels and the Alberta Cancer Foundation.
Sponsor Energy became available on Sept 1 to Albertans, but launched their campaign on Oct 11 during the Alberta Homeless Awareness Week. Carolyn Martin's story was recently covered by CBC news, and is receiving attention across Canada.

The charities profit in 2 ways:
We donate 50% of corporate profits on your electricity consumption to the charity of your choice.
You can contribute even more by paying an extra 1 or 2 cents per kWh. 100% of this money goes directly to the charity.
