Kim and I would like to thank you for being a part of our lives and wish you a great Christmas season and 2014.
Many scientific studies have proved that social relationships are the greatest source of happiness in a person’s life and Kim and I definitely know it is true. We treasure our family and friends.
Our 2013 was filled with ups and downs, as life tends to be.
For myself personally, a few of the key events for the year were:
Speaking at the Think and Grow Rich Summit in Del Mar, CA in April. During that 3 day event, some of the most noted speakers, authors and business people shared the stage to talk about how Napoleon Hill’s book Think and Grow Rich has impacted their lives.
Speaking at and hosting the Think and Grow Rich event in Toronto in September.
Speakers at that event included:
Sharon Lechter – Co-author of the Rich Dad Poor Dad series of books
Frank Shankwitz – Founder of the Make A Wish Foundation
Greg Reid – Author of Three Feet From Gold, a Napoleon Hill Foundation publication
I spoke at a Probus group in Bracebridge and my father and step-father both got to see me speak for the first time. My dad drove from North Bay to attend and my step-father, Trevor, has a cottage in Bracebridge. A number of people stopped my mom while she was doing errands around town to tell her how much they enjoyed my talk.
My amazing friends, Taylor Tagg and Tim Chhim, who I will be releasing a book with in early 2014, flew in to join me for the event.
I interviewed some amazingly interesting and successful people for my Journey To Success Radio show. I have had people from around the world tell me they have listened to my show.
Kim is in her second year at Fader, Furlan, Moss, a law firm in Brampton. Her boss, Sherri Moss, specializes in criminal defense and family law and is by far the top biller of the firm, which means that Kim works very hard and often long hours.
On a sad note, Kim’s former boss of 9 years, Sharon Ingle, died after a 5 year battle with cancer. Kim was at her bedside in the hospital every day during her last 3 weeks.
Sharon focused solely on criminal defense and she and Kim were a well known duo by everyone at the Brampton Courthouse. There were at least 5 judges at Sharon’s memorial service as well as numerous prosecutors and lawyers. Also in attendance were the many people that Sharon encouraged to participate in fitness events including the triathlon.
Kim and I have also spoken with, and write to, her former client that converted from being a Muslim to a Christian about 30 minutes before being sentenced to 15 years in jail.
His story is fascinating and unique. He has more joy in prison than many free people I know.
Kim’s 24 year old son Will worked for most of the year as an office clerk at the law firm she works at. In January he is starting a new job processing real estate transactions for a lawyer in Georgetown. He is looking forward to the opportunity to start his career.
Kim’s 21 year old son Micheal works part-time at an office cleaning company. Micheal looks after our dogs when we are away, which is lots.
Kim and I spent many weekends and vacation time with our friends around Ontario.
We really enjoy our timeshare week at Calabogie Lodge, near Ottawa, in June. We had great friends and my father come to visit us while we were there.
We also enjoyed plenty of time with our favorite friends the Sernoskie’s. We spent 4 days at Bonnechere Lodge in Eganville, in the Ottawa Valley, in August and attended the Beef Bash at the Mask’s hunt camp as we always do.
The Sernoskie’s and Masks helped me celebrate my 50th birthday at a beautiful site on Round Lake, near Killaloe. The location has 3 cottages on one lot and a private andclean beach. We rented 2 of the cottages and a good number of people came and spent the night and partied with us. It was a touching and emotional time for me to spend time with these friends I have known for about 35 years.
To end the year, Kim and I are spending a week at the Cottages of Port Stanton, about a 1 ½ hour drive from where we live. We love going away between Christmas and New Year to somewhere within a 2 hour drive.
We are actively engaged in our church, Heartland A Church Connected. We live life with these people and we are all actively engaged in working to make our community, country, and world a better place to live. They are a source of encouragement for us.
As always, our biggest source of entertainment and joy are our dogs Casey and Blue, a Maltese and Shitzhu.
Kim and I wish you and your family many blessings during this Christmas season and throughout 2014.
