Napoleon Hill International Convention 2012

The Napoleon Hill International Convention 2012 in Malaysia ended on March 19th. It was truly an Amazing week jam packed with exciting experiences and people.

A group of about 25 people from North America, Japan and the UK traveled to Malaysia for the 2 day convention and a tour of the country.

We arrived in Malaysia on March 10th. On the 11th we participated in a Hop On Hop Off Tour of Kuala Lumpur. We saw many sights throughout the city and got to learn a bit about the culture and people.

We had dinner one evening at the revolving restaurant overlooking the Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur. Seeing the city from that height was truly breathtaking.

One of our overnight trips was to the Cameron Highlands. It is the most famous hill resort in Malaysia. While we were there we saw some various animals and visited the largest tea plantation in Malaysia. The city is over 1500 metres above sea level.

We also took an overnight trip to the Genting Highland and stayed at the First World Hotel which is the largest in the world with over 6000 rooms. We traveled on the world's fastest cable car (Gondola). The hotel houses a casino and an indoor and outdoor amusement park. While we were there we attended an ice show similar to Ice Capades in North America. The hotel is on top of a mountain over 1800 metres above sea level.

The tour part of the trip ended on the 18th with a trip to see a firefly display that was truly spectacular.

The Convention part of the trip was on the 14th and 15th. I spoke on the 14th in the afternoon along with Dr. JB Hill, grandson of Napoleon Hill and Don Green, Executive Director of the Napoleon Hill Foundation.

There was a Gala Dinner on the 14th for the Convention. It also commemorated the 25th anniversary of Christina Chia's law practice and her birthday which made it extra special.

Deepak Chopra spoke on the 15th for 5 hours. Ray Stendall and Michael Telapary (Organo Gold Sapphire)were the only other speakers on the 15th. Michael Telapary and John Cramer gave a musical performance with John on violin and Michael with his flute. I always love to hear the two of them play together.

As part of the closing ceremonies, the contributors to the book The Path To Riches in Think and Grow Rich spoke about their chapter. As part of that ceremony, I got to present a copy of the book signed by most of the contributors to Judy Williamson, Director of the Napoleon Hill World Learning Center. The book had traveled extensively to get all the signatures. I started the journey off by having 3 or 4 people sign while I attended the Open House put on by the World Learning Center in May 2011 and from there Kathleen Betts who came up with the idea coordinated the signing by the other authors.

For those who participated in the tour it was the experience of a lifetime. Spending time in a beautiful country with people making a difference from around the world was something we will never forget.

The next Napoleon Hill International Convention will likely take place in Singapore according to Christina Chia, the organizer of the event.

Everyone who traveled to Malaysia for the 2012 Napoleon Hill International Convention thank Christina Chia and her amazing staff at NHIC for their hospitality and kindness shown to us throughout the trip. They are all a shining example of the 17 Principles of Success in action.
