Master Your Fear or Let Fear Master You! by Janet Jones

Imagine if you could do all you could do, you would astound yourself. Why don’t people do all they can do? We are all capable of living to our full potential, yet few of us choose to. Is it lack of focus, lack of confidence, lack of belief? Well, it is all of those and they all come dressed in the guise of fear.

Your mind creates scenarios and reasons NOT to achieve your dreams out of fear. These scenarios are played as movies in the ‘visual cortex’ part of your brain, a half a billion cells that can change your life. These fearful visualizations of, say, investing money and losing it, run the movie of losing your home and ending up living on the streets. It may not seem so severe on the surface but believe me that is going on deep inside the subconscious mind, the part of the mind that creates our thoughts into the physical form.

On closer inspection, you will find that fear is both a motivator for change or a motivator NOT to change and the visualizations are at the root. Take this image, an innocent walk in the woods, yet I have a friend who is petrified of walking alone through the woods. You see, her ‘visual cortex’ is running the movie of there being an attacker just over the hill hiding behind a tree. Is it the truth? Probably not, yet many people forge their life based on the lies visualized in the mind and live unfulfilled taking their dreams to their grave. Time to take back control and have the courage to overcome your fears.

As you have read this far, I am guessing that change will be a strong desire, which means that FEAR must be overcome. Fear is false evidence appearing real, we hear this often. However, perception is reality and if we perceive old age, poverty, criticism, loss of love, ill health or death as being fearful then it is. It is up to us to re-think and create a new reality. To achieve that, takes creating new experiences and courage to turn the fear into faith.

In the words of Nelson Mandela “I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.”

Faith and fear live hand in hand. Your choice is to either conquer fear or let fear conquer you. Fear keeps you living small, but who are you to live small? Fear is so closely linked to lack of self-esteem. By mastering your thinking you would have no reason to fear not having enough wealth, health, losing someone you love, old age, what someone thinks of you or even death. Mastering fear and becoming healthy with happiness means accepting things as is, while keeping focussed on your definite purpose and moving upwards with confidence, knowing that when your time, as a physical being is up, you have done and been all you could be. That is living the authentic you, fearless and on purpose.
