Napoleon Hill wrote "Deeds, not words, are what really count." and "Tell the world what you intend to do, but first show it."
Michael Telapary from the Netherlands is one of my mentors. When you attend the Leader Certification trip, you are assigned a mentor. I chose Michael and it has proved to be one of the best decisions I ever made.
One of Michael's favorite philosophies is "Deeds, not words". He spoke about it several times during the week we spent in Ireland.
I take GREAT pride in doing what I say I am going to do as much as I possibly can. W Clement Stone's Do It Now! motto is firmly ingrained into my brain. I have also programmed myself to write down anything I say I am going to do. If I can do it right away, I do.
I believe that taking daily, consistent action, over a long period of time is one of the major keys to success. Thinking great thoughts and making great plans are a necessity for succcess for sure, however, there are many, many, people who have dreams, not goals, and they take little or no action towards accomplishing the goals they do not have or their dreams.
When I think of this saying, I think of the Bible story in Matthew 21: 28-31
There was a man who had two sons. He went to the first and said, ‘Son, go and work today in the vineyard.’
“‘I will not,’ he answered, but later he changed his mind and went.
“Then the father went to the other son and said the same thing. He answered, ‘I will, sir,’ but he did not go.
“Which of the two did what his father wanted?”
“The first,” they answered.
Your actions are what count in the end. Not what you think you will do and not what you say you will do, ONLY what you actually do.
Can people count on you to do what you say or die trying? Can you count on yourself to do what you think about and plan to do? If not, I suggest that you change that.
