Rachel Rose teaches The Napoleon Hill Foundation's Keys To Success course at the University of Virginia At Wise. I had the great pleasure of interviewing her for Journey To Success Radio.
Rachel Rose was born, and currently resides, in southwest Virginia—just 15 minutes from Pound, Virginia, where Napoleon Hill was born. As a child, Rachel was determined to succeed at whatever she set her mind to, and this determined spirit often created conflict with her beloved mother. Her parents divorced when she was six years old, and Rachel learned early on what it felt like to experience rejection, loss, and heartache. However, as a result of these experiences, Rachel developed a strong sense of empathy and realized her definite major purpose in life was to help others persevere through adversity.
Rachel earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology and a Minor in Sociology from the University of Virginia’s College at Wise and a Master of Science Degree in Counseling and Human Development from Radford University. She currently serves as Director of the Center for Student Development, a Licensed Professional Counselor, Director of the Napoleon Hill Scholars Program, and Adjunct Professor of Napoleon Hill’s “Keys to Success” at The University of Virginia’s College at Wise. As a professional speaker, Rachel facilitates workshops on such topics as self-care; personal development; teambuilding; motivation and inspiration; mindfulness; gluten sensitivity; and gluten-free living.
She has conducted presentations for the American Counseling Association’s National Conference in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania; the Virginia Counselors Convention in Hot Springs, Virginia; the Help, Hope, and Healing Conference in Big Stone Gap, Virginia; the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center in Abingdon, Virginia; the Southwest Virginia Technology Development Center in Lebanon, Virginia; the Crossroads Small Business Development Center in Galax, Virginia; and the Virginia Foundation for Healthy Youth.
In addition to her designation as a Licensed Professional Counselor, she is certified to provide clinical supervision for individuals pursuing licensure as professional counselors; a Certified Law of Attraction Basic Practitioner; and is Tier 1 and 2 Certified in Glutenology with the Gluten Free Society. Her professional memberships include the American Counseling Association, the American College Counseling Association and the Concerned about Our Community Coalition.
Rachel Rose is an avid supporter of Napoleon Hill’s philosophies of success, and she is passionate about sharing them with others. In her work as a therapist, Rachel has witnessed first-hand what keeps people’s gearshifts in park (or neutral) as well as what it takes to shift into “drive.” Rachel is currently working on a manuscript that will assist readers in getting into the driver’s seat of their lives. With a burning desire to reach large volumes of people and to help them achieve optimal success and overall well-being, she believes she can accomplish these goals through the material in her book and as a motivational speaker.
With every single hardship and obstacle placed in her life, Rachel expresses gratitude for each one of them because it has led her to where she is now—making a positive difference in the lives of others while doing what she loves. Rachel’s favorite Napoleon Hill quote is, “Every adversity, every failure, and every heartache carries with it the seed of an equal or greater benefit.” She has witnessed evidence of this in her own life as well as in the lives of others. Rachel is passionate about helping others transform adversity into fuel for success and encouraging others to let life’s adversities and detours “fuel you” instead of “fool you.”
