Success Coach Joe Cohen has written a great article titled '5 Pillars of Personal Development' and I wanted to share it with you.
Have you considered the value of Personal Development in your life? If so, leaning on these 5 Pillars will guarantee your Personal Development.
Identify your Purpose and Mission
Personal Development requires identifying your purpose in life and creating a mission for contributing to our world. Your why is your purpose and your how is your mission. To better understand the value of having a purpose and mission, take advantage of the complementary download of Purpose and Mission, the first chapter of my e-book.
Fulfilling your potential is a long term process which may require you to recreate yourself by making significant changes in your life. Identifying your purpose and mission is the first pillar of Personal Development.
Create A Vision of the Future
Personal Development is a process which empowers us to fulfill our potential. Yet unless you have decided upon the areas in which you desire to improve, you won’t know where to begin or when you’re progressing.
Begin by focusing upon important areas like your health and appearance, relationships, career, community, finances, free time and/or family time or personal enjoyment.
Living on Purpose explains why creating a vision of the future will bring you more passion and greater determination for your activities. Creating a vision of your future in the important areas of your life is the second pillar of Personal Development.
Invest in Resources to Grow
Your Personal Development will begin when you invest in yourself and start using the myriad of available resources to propel your growth. If you enjoy attending live events, finding a worthwhile seminar is as simple as doing a Google search to select a topic and identify a convenient time and location. If watching a video appeals most to you, click here to learn about some invaluable tools and resources.
If you prefer online learning, register for The Aware Show, an insightful teleseminar series and online community of progressive thought. There Are No Secrets: Drawing Back the Curtain on the Secrets to Success is one of the many personal development books that can help you get where you want to go. Turning your car into a university on wheels is possible with a CD set such as The Success Principles: How to Get from Where You Are to Where You Want to Be.
There are many ways to begin, but what matters most is choosing to get started. Investing in Resources to Grow is the third pillar of Personal Development.
Join A Mastermind Group
Accelerating your Personal Development is possible by participating in a Mastermind Group. A mastermind group can range from two to six individuals who work in the same industry or come from different fields. Either configuration has its advantages and limitations.
“When two or more people coordinate in a spirit of harmony and work toward a definite objective or purpose,” wrote Napoleon Hill, author of Think and Grow Rich, “they place themselves in position, through the alliance, to absorb power directly from the great storehouse of Infinite Intelligence.” Few would argue that two heads are better than one when solving problems or creating better results is the objective.
Having a permanent group of five to six who meet weekly to brainstorm, network, encourage and motivate each other is a powerful success tool. Once you settle in to your Mastermind Group choose one of the members as your accountability partner so you can exchange ideas privately during the week about your progress or discuss your challenges. Joining a Mastermind Group can be easily done and is the fourth pillar of Personal Development.
Find A Mentor
Personal Development leading to success can be facilitated by finding a mentor. Since success leaves clues, why not get advice from someone who has accomplished what you desire to achieve? Taking advantage of the existing wisdom and experience by finding a mentor who has already walked the path you are now on begins with your willingness to ask.
A key strategy of the successful is constantly seeking guidance and advise from experts in their field. Mentors, one of the chapters in There Are No Secrets: Drawing Back the Curtain on the Secrets to Success, explains why much of the success we enjoy results from learning from someone who has walked before us on the same path.
Simply make a list of those whom you would like to mentor you, and then approach them to ask for their help. Learning from a mentor will ensure your success while supporting your Personal Development.
