Book Review for Top Performance by Zig Ziglar
In the Preface to the book, Zig mentions that Stanford Research Institute, Harvard University and the Carnegie Foundation have proved that 85% of the reason you get a job, keep a job and move ahead in the job has to do with your people skills and people knowledge.
Zig has used the saying “You can have everything in life you want if you will just help enough other people get what they want.” For nearly 50 years as the foundation for all success. He writes, “It’s a fact that you can’t tailor-make the situations in life, but you can tailor-make the attitudes to fit those situations before they arise”. Again, Zig writes, “All of life is a series of choices, and what you choose to give life today will determine what life will give you tomorrow”.
An acronym Zig uses is GEL which stands for; Be a Goodfinder, Expect the Best and Loyalty to your company and co-workers. The most important thought or idea from the book, Zig writes, is that people don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care...about them.
He also writes that the phrase “Logic will not change an emotion, but action will!” is worth the price of the book.
